How IonCleanse® Works
The alternating current is converted to low power direct current, which flows through a patented electrode system located in the footbath. The combination of electricity and metal splits water molecules into H+ and OH- ions. These ions travel through the body, neutralizing oppositely charged particles, and the strong osmotic pressure drives those neutralized particles out of the body through any skin surface that comes in contact with water.
Ions are charged atoms that have gained or lost electrons, which create a magnetic field that can attach to and neutralize oppositely charged particles. These neutralized particles are extracted from the body through a process called osmosis. Osmosis is a scientific term used to describe the movement of particles through a membrane from an area of lower concentration to an area of higher concentration. In this case, the higher concentration refers to the ion field created by placing the array in water while operating the device.
The array is placed in the water with the hands, feet, or body while the power supply supplies low-level DC power to the array. This causes the metals in the array to combine with water and salts, creating positively and negatively charged ions by separating oxygen and hydrogen in the water.
