The positive effect of hydrogen bath on psoriasis and plaque parapsoriasis 2020-12-02

Psoriasis, also called psoriasis, is a common and recurring chronic inflammatory skin disease. Once it occurs, it often suffers from lifelong and recurring attacks. Most patients show a process of alternating relapse and remission. The quality of life of the patient Was severely affected. The cause of psoriasis has not been studied. The current generally accepted view is that psoriasis is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Unfortunately, so far there is no cure for psoriasis. Therefore, the purpose of psoriasis treatment is to control the disease, reduce (rather than eliminate) recurrence, delay the development of the disease, and ultimately improve the quality of life.

Recently, a report from the Department of Dermatology, Huashan Hospital of Fudan University, Positive efects of hydrogen-water bathing in patients of psoriasis andparapsoriasis en plaques, verified the positive effect of hydrogen molecules on alleviating the severity of psoriasis and improving the quality of life, and was published in the journal Scientific Reports on. The study conducted a parallel controlled trial, recruiting a total of 75 patients with psoriasis, 41 were classified into the hydrogen water group, and 34 were classified into the control group. By immersing the whole body in a hydrogen-rich water bath, the hydrogen molecules directly act on the skin; the patient soaks twice a week for 10-15 minutes each time. The researchers observed the lesions at the beginning of the trial and at the 8th week of the trial, and scored them based on the severity index.
The trial was conducted to the 8th week, and the patients who soaked in the hydrogen bath had significant improvement in the Psoriasis Severity Index (PASI) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) compared with the control group. In the hydrogen bath group, 24.4% (10/41) of the patients in the PASI score improved at least 75%; in comparison, the patients in the control group had a similar improvement of only 2.9% (1/34). Among the patients who received hydrogen baths, 56.1% (23/41) had at least a 50% improvement in PASI, while only 17.7% (6/34) of the control group had similar improvements.

In addition, after the end of the 8-week hydrogen bath, 33.3% of patients with plaque parapsoriatic disease (2/6) got complete remission of the lesion, while 66.7% (4/6) of patients got partial remission, indicating that hydrogen bath The treatment has a very significant relieving effect on these chronic inflammatory skin diseases.
