This study conducted an in-depth comparison of hydrogen water baths, and the results showed that they can have a positive impact on antioxidant capacity based on oxygen free radical absorption and inflammatory marker C-reactive protein, thereby improving the serum of healthy subjects and patients with inflammation/collagen diseases.

This study used a device to provide a hydrogen water bath, which can generate nanobubbles with a diameter of 110 ± 10nm and 338-682 μ With the increase of relevant dissolved hydrogen, the number of nanobubbles increases to 9.91 × 107 per mL at a concentration of g/L. After 120 minutes of bathing, a 10 minute hydrogen water bath increased the antioxidant capacity based on oxygen free radical absorption to 110.9 ± 9.2%, although healthy subjects did not change in a regular water bath. In patients with connective tissue diseases, C-reactive protein levels are inhibited to 3-24% after 9 days to 4 months of hot water bathing. Among the other 6 patients with various autoimmune diseases, after a daily hydrogen water bath for 2-25 months, the C-reactive protein level before the bath decreased from 5.31 mg/dL to 0.24 mg/dL, which was within the standard range. In some cases, visible inflammatory symptoms were relieved. Hydrogen water bath with high-density nanobubbles has beneficial effects on serum antioxidant capacity, inflammation, and skin appearance. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Japan Anti Aging Medical Science Center (Authorization No. H-15-03-2, January 15, 2019), a non-profit organization officially certified by the Hiroshima Prefecture Government in Japan.
